Kebede H. Begna, MD (Oncology & Hematology)

Kebede H. Begna, MD, is a Board Member of Ethio-American Doctors Group, Inc. Dr. Begna is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology by American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). Currently he is an Assistant Professor and Consultant Hematologist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Dr. Begna graduated from the then Gondar College of Medical Sciences (Gondar university) with a Doctor of Medicine, and pursued residency program in internal medicine. He was an attending physician and an assistant professor at the Jimma Institute of Health Sciences prior to his migration to the United States. He finished internal medicine residency at St. Vincent Medical College, an affiliate of New York Medical College, where he was the Chief Resident. He completed hematology and medical oncology fellowship at the University of Minnesota, and later joined the Mayo Clinic, Division of Hematology in Rochester, Minnesota.

He is a member of American Society of Hematology (ASH), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and American College of Physicians (ACP). Dr. Begna tries to help through teaching in various emerging medical schools, especially his alma mater, Gondar University Medical School. He taught medical students through bi-weekly videoconferences for about a year, until other alternative means of teaching was identified.
