Dr. Ergeba Sheferaw, a member of Ethio-American Doctors Group (EADG), is an experienced radiologist who specializes in breast imaging. She completed her medical education at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
She is now a radiologist and director of women’s imaging at one of Advanced Radiology’s offices in Baltimore, Maryland.
Although, she resides and works in the United States, Dr. Ergeba has been making significant contributions in Ethiopia going back to the days when she was a medical student. At the time, she worked with students at Addis Ababa University School of Medicine to create the Ethiopian Medical Students Association, which then became part of the International Federation of Medical Students Association. This organization now has many chapters in Ethiopia and it is still active 15+ years later.
In 2019, Dr. Ergeba provided a two-week training for the first breast imaging fellows in Ethiopia at St Paul Hospital in Addis Ababa. She is currently working in partnership with a US based NGO on acquiring mammogram/stereotactic biopsy machine for the hospital.
Dr. Ergeba became a member of EADG as she put it, “I believe in the mission of having an internationally accredited hospital in Ethiopia to provide quality health care. It is essential not only for the country but also for the region.”
